Location Search Update

I started this journey to opening a beauty supply store about two and a half years ago, and the location search two years ago. It hasn’t been easy and has required so much patience. 

I found the 915 Broad St. location In January (2025). After much negotiation and back and forth with the landlords, they decided they would work with me to rent the space. 

The space needed to be built out (~$100,000): bathroom needed to be added in, office, ceiling, electricity, flooring, you name it. 

While I had some savings, after getting this quote from the General Contractor, I realized that I needed funding. I didn't want to deplete my savings, so I decided to apply for an SBA loan. 

The bank I went with for the loan informed me initially it would take three weeks to process the loan. I decided to hold off on signing the lease with 915 Broad St. ownership until the loan was processed/approved. 

Three weeks turned into five months. 

One week before I was approved for the SBA loan, ownership informed me that they would move forward with another business. 

So now, I continue my location search and I have until December 19th (SBA loan terms) to find a new place and sign a lease. A little pressure, considering it took a year and a half to find the 915 Broad St. location, but I'm up for this challenge.
