I "Hair" You - Event Recap
Share
Have you ever had a vision for something that you wanted to do and when you do that something, it solidifies that you're on the right path and that vision is the right vision?
Well, that's what happened for me with our event called, I Hair You, a journaling and networking event.
Over 20 women showed up - some brought their moms, some brought their daughters. All were ready to share their hair stories and experiences and build community around our shared experiences.
The first half consisted mostly of networking, the women getting to know one another, patronizing the local vendors that sold hand-crafted silk hair bonnets (Azaleas For You), science-backed clean skin care products (FabYouLife), and an organic scalp and hair oil (HALO Premium Hair Care)*. All while nibbling on the generous amounts of finger foods provided by our host, Chanice Fish, at Taste of the Caribbean Restaurant and Catering.
The second half, we took out our journals and affirmation pens, provided by Wakeelah Peace of Psykee Journal Co. Wakeelah provided the group with thought-provoking prompts for us to dig deep and reflect on our experiences. The conversation was vulnerable and honest, with everyone supporting each other.
This event left our community wanting more, with folks asking when is the next event!
This event has helped confirm that there is a need for these kinds of events and Dre's Beauty Supply is ready to take on this responsibility to uplift and empower our community around all things hair, beauty, and wellness.
As for future events, we will continue to build brand awareness of our existence at community pop-up events. We're looking at Sprint 2026 for our next community focused event.
Stay tuned!
With Love, Dre
*Shout out to Rising Tide Capital as all of our vendors were graduates of their Community Business Academy.
